Collectables for Video Games

We all have a different opinion when it comes to games. The type of games we are going to review instilled mixed reactions from gamers worldwide.

We are talking about games which import Character Figures into the game by reading the figure tags through NFC. Two examples of these types of games are the Skylanders series, and the most recent one being  Starlink : Battle for Atlas.

In this series, the Skylanders have an unbreakable bond with their Portal Masters (The Player). Each Skylander  is associated with one of the ten elements of Skylands: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Magic, Tech, Life, Undead, Light, and Dark. The main plot is for the Skylanders to go through different levels to defeat Kaos, and stop him from ruling over Skylands.

In Starlink: Battle for Atlas however, you assemble a custom star ship linked to your game controller and head into an interplanetary adventure.

This game was considered as expensive by numerous people. Reason behind this concern is that although you start with a starter set, you can’t fully enjoy the game unless you buy the figures separately. Figures that most people did not like. Nowadays although you can download figures digitally it’s still upsetting for some players that starter sets are priced are an average of 5-10 Eur

What’s your opinion on these types of games? How does having to purchase figures make you feel? Does it hold you back from delving into the Skylanders world?

I personally enjoy it and am always on the hunt to collect as many figures as I can.
