Green Lantern Hal Jordan (preview) - statue review

Sideshow recently opened up pre-orders for an upcoming Green Lantern Hal Jordan statue. After seeing the advertising pictures, I was immediately impressed by what I saw, despite some potential gripes upon further analysis. The sculptor went all out with the details, from the physical anatomy of the character to the base, and even the construct itself.

The paint application is professionally well-done. I was concerned that something as small as the ring would be smudged, but that is not the case. 

The biggest selling point of this statue is not just its incredible height (86 cm) which might throw some collectors off, but its retail price as well. For a statue of this size, its retail price (excluding shipping and customs) will fall slightly above 650, which is a decent deal overall, as statues of similar size would often fall within the four-figure price range.

As for the pose, it perfectly captures the essence of the character, with the ring-wielding fist in the air and the body suspended in the air courtesy of a logo construct. Whether or not it'll be durable upon release remains to be seen. Hopefully, it won't be the case. 

Despite the gripes I have with the height and potential durability of the base, this still looks like a great piece. Overall, I'll give it a score of 8.5 out of 10!
